Brenda Coleman-Beattie is a behavioral health consultant and advocate, and the founder and managing principal of 2Thrive4 in Austin, Texas.  She also is a member of the MacArthur Foundation Network on Mental Health Policy Research. 

Her career track record ranges from financial and operations management to mental healthcare consulting.  Prior to establishing 2Thrive4 she was the Assistant Chief Operating Officer of the Lower Colorado River Authority, and before that the Director, New Business Development for EduCare Community Living Corp. both in Austin, Texas.  She also has served as the Vice President, Public Sector Programs for Value Behavioral Health; the Vice President, Support Services for the Maricopa County Regional Behavioral Health Authority; Acting CFO for the City of Seattle, Washington and she worked on the Brazil desk at the US State Department.

Ms. Coleman-Beattie has a MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.  She is currently a Board member of The Austin Project, a Gubernatorial Appointee Board Member of the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities, an Advisory Council Member of the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin and a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Austin President for 2003-2004). She has received numerous awards including:  the 2008 Garnett F. Coleman Eternal Flame Award in recognition of her contributions to mental health, awarded at the Central Texas African American Family Support Conference, the 2006 Richard E. Hopkins Torch Award-Family Member, from the Austin-Travis County Mental Health Mental Retardation Center and the 2004 Champion Award as Outstanding Volunteer from the New Milestones Foundation (Mental Health Advocacy).  She recently has been the plenary presenter at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine 8th All-Ohio Institute on Community Psychiatry — Dollars & Sense: The Business Case for Community-Based Mental Health Services.
